Kala is a passionate and motivated business woman with over 18 years experience as a Self Employed mother of two.  Her motivation to become her own boss came after 12 years working in Government and Local Government positions in roles such as Judge's PA and Property Manager's PA where she felt her creative talents and entrepreneurial desires were not been met. After years of side hustling whilst working full time, Kala bit the bullet and left her corporate career to pursue a completely new path as an entrepreneur.  Her profile in self employment includes establishment and sale after 7 years of a boutique jewellery store, commercial cleaning company and ongoing private contracts with various businesses including Government and Local Government as a service provider and business mentor.  The journey of her entrepreneurial path eventually led her to herbalism which has always been something she has drawn to from a young age.  Kala has now established Flack Herbals from an existing brand to align with her family name and to give recognition of her skill from her anscestors.

Kala creates and formulates her own products using her own garden herbs and other herbs within New Zealand, particularly in her region of Whanganui where her, her partner and children, forage wildly on most weekends.  Her extracts are created with full passion with people as her first focus and it is believed this natural ability, particularly in formulation, has been passed down to her from both sides of her family - Her Great Grandfather Hugh who was a Chemist from England and her Maori Ancestry of  Whakatohea, Te Whanau Apanui and Ngai Tahu (where she is also a Business and Marketing Mentor).  It seems no surprise that shifting paths from the corporate world to herbalism has happened for Kala.

Kala is a qualified Herbal Consultant and a member of the Herb Federation of New Zealand and is continuously undergoing formal studies to further her knowledge in modern herbalism.
